1. User Agreement

1.1
Unlike some comparison sites, this Website does not issue insurance quotations itself and does not have the regulatory authority to do so. Your use of the Website is subject to these Terms.

1.2
Any breach of these Terms may result in immediate suspension or termination of your access.

1.3
This Website is intended for UK residents aged 18 or over. Information shown—including product details, prices, and descriptions—may change or be withdrawn at any time without notice.

1.4
We may amend these Terms at our discretion. Updates take effect when posted on the Website. Continued use after changes means you accept the revised Terms.

1.5
Compare Insurex Limited provides assistance and administrative services only. We are not an insurer.

1.6
We do not give financial advice or personal recommendations about the suitability of any policy. We may outline key features, but the decision to buy rests entirely with you.

1.7
We operate as an independent price-comparison and quotation-search service. We are not appointed by, tied to, or representative of any insurer or underwriter. Our role is to help you locate potential quotations.

2. Data Protection & Confidentiality

2.1
We are committed to protecting your personal information. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data. It forms part of these Terms.

2.2
We will comply with all applicable data-protection laws when handling your personal data, as set out in our Privacy Policy.

3. Company Overview, Regulatory Status & Legal Notices

3.1 Scope of Services
Compare Insurex does not carry out activities regulated under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA). We do not regulate, arrange, forward, administer, or establish insurance policies. We provide access to available quotations and outline key features. Purchasing decisions are yours alone.

3.2 No Financial Advice
Nothing on this Website constitutes financial, investment, or insurance advice. Compare Insurex does not recommend specific products.

3.3 Excluded Activities under FSMA
Under FSMA and the Regulated Activities Order 2001 (RAO), our services do not include:

  • accepting deposits or arranging insurance cover;
  • effecting or carrying out insurance contracts as principal;
  • assisting in the administration or performance of an insurance contract.

3.4 Other Financial Services Not Provided
We do not issue electronic money; deal in, arrange, manage, advise on, or safeguard investments; arrange or advise on home finance; operate a multilateral trading facility; establish collective or stakeholder pension schemes; provide basic advice on stakeholder products; enter into funeral plan contracts or Lloyd’s market activities; or enter into/administer any home finance activity.

3.5 Legal Framework
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remainder will continue in full force. English law governs these Terms, and both parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. Unless expressly stated, these Terms create obligations only between Compare Insurex and you; no third party may enforce them.

3.6 FSMA Status & Data Protection
Compare Insurex is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) or the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA). We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and handle personal data in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR.

3.7 General Provisions

a) If a provision is invalid, it will be replaced with a valid term closest to the original intent; the rest remain effective.
b) A failure to enforce any right is not a waiver.
c) These Terms constitute the entire agreement regarding your access to and use of the Website and supersede all prior understandings.

4. Products & External Links from External Providers

4.1 Availability
Products accessible via this Website are provided by independent third parties. We do not control them. You must check whether any product meets your needs and reviews its documentation before purchase. Inclusion on our Website is not an endorsement of the product, provider, or their site.

4.2 Pricing
All prices are in pounds sterling (£).

4.3 Limitation of Liability (Third-Party Products)
We are not responsible for any loss or damage arising from products you obtain via this Website, or for any act, omission, error, or default by a third-party provider.

4.4 Product Information
We show general summaries to assist comparison. Products differ. Confirm exact terms and conditions with the provider. Information is intended for UK residents only.

4.5 Offers & Contract Formation
Submitting your details is an offer to purchase from a third-party provider. Acceptance is at the provider’s discretion. A contract forms only when the provider accepts your offer and sends written confirmation. The product is then supplied under the provider’s terms.

4.6 External Links
Links are provided for convenience only and are not approvals. These sites are owned by third parties. We accept no liability for their content, products, services, or statements.

5. Disclosure Obligations

5.1 Utmost Good Faith
All quotations are based on utmost good faith.

5.2 Accurate Information
You must provide true, complete, and accurate information at all times—when applying and throughout the policy term.

5.3 Fair Presentation of Risk
Disclose all material facts relevant to the risk. Failure to do so may invalidate cover or increase premiums.

5.4 Material Circumstances
A fact is material if it would influence a prudent insurer’s assessment or pricing. Disclose and update material facts from initial enquiry through inception and for the entire policy term, including MTAs, renewals, extensions, endorsements, and claims.

5.5 Continuing Duty
Your duty to disclose is ongoing even if no specific question is asked. If unsure whether something is material, please ask us.

6. Terms Governing Website Access
Do not engage in any activity that compromises the Website’s security, integrity, or availability, or that disrupts other users. Access is for personal, non-commercial use by UK residents only. Unauthorised or commercial use is prohibited. We may take legal or other action for any breach.

7. Our Remuneration & Service Scope

7.1 Nature of Our Service
We provide an independent price-search service, enabling you to research and compare quotations for car, van, home, and accident-management products from third-party providers. We are not an insurer, intermediary, or consultant and do not give suitability advice. We may outline features; purchase decisions are yours.

7.2 Fees, Accuracy & Liability

  • Service Fee: You pay us a fee solely for the price-search work. We receive no commission from any insurer.
  • Insurer’s Terms: Once you accept an insurer/broker’s terms and payment is processed, their fees are governed by their own terms. Some fees may be non-refundable—check with the insurer.
    Incorrect
  • Information: If your payment fails due to inaccurate or incomplete details (e.g., undeclared accidents, penalties, or NCB issues), we may retain our service fee even if a valid quotation cannot later be arranged.
  • Similar Quotations: If you later purchase a quotation generated through our search, our charges may still apply, subject to circumstance.
  • Policy Cancellation by Insurer: If an insurer cancels on unfair terms, we may—at our discretion—refund part or all of our service fee, retaining up to £50 to cover admin costs (without obligation).
  • Client Responsibility: You must check all policy documents, statements of fact, and updates issued by the insurer or broker. We do not monitor or manage policies after providing quotations.

7.3 Appointment & Regulatory Position
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and UK GDPR, you authorise us to conduct market searches and obtain quotations/renewals based on the information you supply. Compare Insurex is not a broker or agent, makes no personal recommendations, and is not FCA-authorised.

7.4 Insurer Acceptance & Post-Quotation Adjustments
Some insurers may not accept third-party involvement. Confirm directly with the insurer, before purchase, that it accepts quotations obtained via our service.
If your policy is cancelled within two months of receiving our quotation links due to our error, we will either:

  • re-search the market free of charge, or
  • refund our service fee in full (subject to mutual agreement and evidence).
    After receiving quotation links by email, check all details. If anything is incorrect, amend with the insurer before proceeding. If your amendments raise the premium, we may—at our discretion—offset the difference against our service fee or conduct a new search free of charge, subject to comparison-platform pricing algorithms.

8. Usage Rights

Access is granted for your personal, non-commercial use, conditional on full compliance with these Terms.

8.2 Website Security

a) Use of spiders/robots/crawlers or automated tools to access or copy content.

d) Merging Website content with other data.
e) Reverse-engineering, decompiling, or disassembling code or processes.
f) Systematic or automated techniques to obtain large volumes of quotes or pricing data.
g) Attempts to derive pricing methodologies, underwriting practices, or business systems.
h) Posting or transmitting spam or other unsolicited material.

8.4 Unlawful Use
Do not use the Website in any unlawful, fraudulent, or malicious manner.

8.5 Accuracy of Your Information
All information you submit must be true, accurate, current, and complete.

8.6 No Offer or Binding Obligation
This Website facilitates quotation search only. Compare Insurex cannot bind any provider or guarantee supply. Nothing on the Website is:
a) an offer by us or any provider to sell you a product; or
b) a contract between you and Compare Insurex or any provider.

9. Rights to Proprietary Content

9.1 Trademarks
The name “Compare Insurex”, in word or logo form, is a trademark of Compare Insurex Limited or its group companies (registered or unregistered).

9.2 Intellectual Property
All IP rights in Website materials, content, and design are owned by us or used under licence.

9.3 Permitted Use
You may use the trademarks fairly and lawfully in accordance with these Terms, but you must not:
a) incorporate them into your own branding;
b) use them in a way that may confuse or mislead, or damage our reputation;
c) imply endorsement or association where none exists.

9.4 Restrictions
Except as expressly permitted, no IP belonging to Compare Insurex or our licensors—including content, graphics, and materials—may be copied, reproduced, published, distributed, or otherwise exploited without prior written consent.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties & Liability

10.1 “As-Is”
The Website and all content/services are provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no express or implied warranties as to quality, accuracy, completeness, timeliness, reliability, fitness for purpose, security, or error-free operation.

10.2 Accuracy & Reliance
We take reasonable steps to keep information current and accurate, but access and reliance are at your own risk. We accept no liability for losses arising from actions you take (or do not take) based on Website content.

10.3 Viruses & Harmful Code
We do not warrant that the Website is free from viruses or malicious code. Protect your systems accordingly.

10.4 Availability
Uninterrupted access is not guaranteed. We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access at any time without notice.

10.5 Excluded Losses
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:
a) loss of use, profits, data, or any indirect/special/consequential loss arising from: your use of or reliance on the Website; deletion of your data; delays, non-deliveries, service interruptions, or failures; removal of your content; or events beyond our reasonable control;
b) losses not directly caused by us, or not reasonably foreseeable when our agreement arose.

10.6 Non-Excludable Liability
Nothing excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Compare Insurex, its directors, officers, employees, agents, and contractors from any losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of:

  • your breach of these Terms; or
  • your misuse or unauthorised use of the Website.

12. Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)
Your insurer or service provider is typically covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). If they cannot meet their obligations, you may be eligible for compensation depending on the business type and claim circumstances.
Our separate service fees are outside the scope of FSCS and may be non-refundable.
For details, see the FSCS website or write to: Financial Services Compensation Scheme, 7th Floor Chambers, Portsoken Street, London E1 8BN.

13. Understanding Price Estimates
We are an independent price-searching service, not a broker, agent, or representative for any insurer. We provide links to comparison sites and providers to help you find competitive offers. With your explicit authorisation and accurate information, we can complete quotation forms on your behalf and manually search providers for suitable cover—often used for complex or higher-risk profiles—saving time and potentially money.
Please note:

  • We cannot tailor or modify a quotation unless your circumstances change.
  • We cannot alter any quote or policy after it has been issued.
  • Quotations exclude any extra charges an insurer/broker may apply for mid-term changes (e.g., vehicle or address changes).
  • All personal and payment information is processed in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR.

14. Cost Declaration
You will usually receive quotation details within eight business hours by SMS or email. We may follow up by phone to explain key features and answer questions. Pricing depends on third-party platforms and internet availability; sometimes a quote cannot be supplied. If so, we will notify you. When your quotation is ready, we may contact you by phone, SMS, or email.

15. Your Contractual Duties
You must complete all forms fully and accurately, answering honestly and to the best of your knowledge. If in doubt, disclose anything you believe may be material. Please note:

  • Incorrect or incomplete answers may lead to rejection or additional premiums, which the insurer may collect.
  • After purchase, review your details with the broker/insurer and correct any errors; failure to do so may invalidate the policy.
  • You are solely responsible for reading and understanding the provider’s terms and conditions via the link we supply.
  • These Terms relate to our services only and do not replace or modify the provider’s product terms.

16. Risk Stipulations
Insurers specialise in different risk levels and may not issue quotations outside target markets. The more “high-risk” or “non-standard” your circumstances, the fewer quotations you may receive. In some cases, an online quotation may not be possible.

17. Underwriting & Claims Information Registers / Fraud Prevention

Insurers share information with industry databases to verify details and combat fraud, including:

  • Claims and Underwriting Exchange (CUE);
  • Hunter Database;
  • Motor Insurers’ Anti-Fraud and Theft Register.

When you apply, insurers may search these and other registers as part of risk assessment. Under your policy terms, you must notify your insurer of any incident (e.g., accident or theft), whether at fault or not, and whether or not a claim is made. Insurers may share incident details with the above registers and other authorised bodies.

18. Motor Insurance Database (MID)
Your policy details will be recorded on the Motor Insurance Database (MID). Allow up to seven days for records to update. You can check your vehicle at www.askmid.com. MID data may be accessed by the DVLA/DVLNI, the police, UK insurers, the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB), and the MIIC, and may be used for accident investigations, including abroad. Further information: www.miic.org.uk.

19. Accident & Claims Disclosure (CUE)
Any driver or policyholder who has had an accident or claim—fault or non-fault, reported or claimed—within the last five years must disclose it at application. Failure to do so may invalidate your policy and increase premiums. Insurers/brokers may verify your history via CUE.

20. Road Traffic Offences & Disqualifications (DVLA)
Disclose any motoring convictions, fixed penalties, or disqualifications within the last five years at application. Failure to disclose may invalidate your policy and increase premiums. Insurers/brokers may check your record with the DVLA.

21. No Claims Bonus (NCB/NCD)
If your policy includes NCB, you must provide valid proof: a renewal notice or an official letter from your previous insurer showing the main driver as policyholder and confirming NCB. A policy schedule is not acceptable. An NCB can only be used on one policy at a time and must have been earned within the last 24 months.

22. UK-Based Only
Products and services are offered only to UK residents insuring vehicles within Great Britain, Northern Ireland, and the Isle of Man (excluding the Channel Islands). By requesting a quote, you confirm all drivers are UK residents and will inform the provider if those changes.

23. Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
All copyrights, trademarks, and brand identifiers on the Website belong to Compare Insurex or our licensors. You may download or store content solely for personal, non-commercial use. Commercial reproduction, distribution, or storage is prohibited without prior written consent.

24. Responsibility for Published Material
The Website and its materials are provided “as is.” We make no express or implied warranties as to accuracy, completeness, suitability, fitness for purpose, or error-free operation. The Website may contain technical or typographical errors. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for losses arising from such errors. We do not warrant that this or linked sites are free from viruses or malware; use appropriate security software. Nothing here limits your statutory rights or our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

25. Service Fee Schedule

  • Insurer Fees: Policy amendment charges are set out in your policy documents and payable to your insurer/cover provider.
  • Our Service Charges: We provide non-obligatory quotations free of charge. If you proceed using our quotations or their references, a separate service charge applies for our price-search service. This charge is clearly included in the quotations we present and is payable once you finalise a policy with your chosen provider.
  • Accuracy: You are responsible for supplying accurate information. If false or misleading details lead to cancellation, our service charge is non-refundable.
  • Independence: Our service charge is independent of your insurer’s fees and not shared with any provider.
  • Refunds/Adjustments: If you are dissatisfied due to an error on our part (including clerical/typographical mistakes), we may, at our discretion, refund part or all of the fee, subject to eligibility and verification.

26. Structure of Administration & Service Costs
We clearly disclose our service charges in every quotation in line with Trading Standards requirements. SMS/email quotations will state “Included All Charges” alongside the total price.
Our standard service fee ranges from £80.00 to £800.00 (all inclusive), depending on factors such as:

  • number of drivers in each request;
  • any vehicle changes during the search;
  • number of attempts required to complete searches across comparison platforms.

Charges are reviewed annually and may be adjusted.

27. Returns & Reimbursements
Our service is a professional, one-off, intangible quotation service. Because the fee reflects time, skill, and effort, the service charge is strictly non-refundable in all circumstances. It is independent of any insurer’s charges and is not linked to your policy.

28. Grievance Procedure
If you have a concern or complaint, contact us first:

  • Telephone: 0333 015 0505 (Mon–Fri, 10:00–18:00, excluding Bank Holidays)
  • Email:info@compareinsurex.co.uk

If we cannot resolve the matter by phone or email, write to:
Service Quality and Compliance Manager (full postal address as shown in your documentation).

Information to include: your full name and address, a contact number, your policy or quotation reference, and a clear description of the issue. If details are missing, we will contact you for more information.

Our Response: We aim to acknowledge and resolve complaints within 7–14 working days. A final resolution may take up to four weeks; if not possible, we will explain why and provide a timeframe for our next update.

Remedies: If inconvenience is established due to our error (including clerical/typographical mistakes), we will, subject to eligibility, either reimburse the difference or refund our service fee in full.

29. Breach of Trust / Misrepresentation / Fraud

It is fraud to misrepresent, falsify, or deliberately withhold material information at any stage—application, mid-term, or renewal—including providing false, stolen, or misleading documents, or concealing facts that might affect an insurer’s decision.
If fraud is suspected, the insurer may:

  •  cancel or void your policy (and related policies) at any time; and
  • recover costs and retain premiums paid.

30. Conclusion of Agreement / Termination of Access
We may warn, temporarily suspend, or permanently terminate your use of the Website if you:
30.1 breach these Terms;
30.2 infringe the rights of other users or third parties;
30.3 engage in fraudulent or deceptive activity;
30.4 threaten, abuse, or harass any Compare Insurex employee (in any form).
We may refuse any price-search request or quotation at our discretion.

31. Jurisdiction
31.1 These Terms and your use of the Website are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom.
31.2 Both you and Compare Insurex submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the UK courts for disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Website
